Although the translation of their name is a little sensationalized, Utne Reader's article on the Por Tek Tung is a great introduction to the Buddhist rescue workers of Thailand, and an interesting and natural social phenomenon for a gridlocked city lacking public emergency rescue services and ambulances for the private hospitals.
