Mattie Do coming to Fantastic Fest in September 19-26, 2013!

Mattie Do has officially announced her attendance of the 2013 Fantastic Fest at the world-famous Texas Alamo Drafthouse!

Here's how it's been described by the organizers: "Mattie Do’s Chanthaly is a different sort of ghost story, a slow burning debut that represents the first feature film ever directed by a woman in Laos, and also the first ever horror picture in the history of a nation that is still under Marxist rule and therefore officially disavows the presence of ghosts or, indeed, anything supernatural at all. The tension between past and present, between parents and children, science and tradition all factor in large here with the limitations of all building to a tragic conclusion..."

Fantastic Fest is the largest genre film festival in the U.S., specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi, action and just plain fantastic movies from all around the world. In years past they have presented the world premieres of THERE WILL BE BLOOD, APOCALYPTO, CITY OF EMBER, ZOMBIELAND, and GENTLEMEN BRONCOS, while their guest roster has included such talent as Mel Gibson, Bill Murray, Dolph Lundgren, Jemaine Clement, Paul Rudd, Bill Pullman, Paul Thomas Anderson, Kevin Smith, Jon Favreau, George Romero, Darren Aronofsky and Mike Judge. They also feature world, national and regional premieres of new, up-and-coming genre films.

This is a wonderful achievement for Mattie Do, and we look forward to hearing how it went! Someone give her some nachos while she's there! Good ones!
