Women in Horror Month Call for Blog Posts
All HWA members are invited to contribute to the blog and are asked to help spread the word by posting about the event on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, online message boards, and anywhere else you can reach horror fans. The blog will run on www.horror.org in February (Women in Horror Month). Only Dues Paying HWA Members may submit.
We want your blog posts on Women in Horror! If you’d like to contribute, please read the guidelines below and get in touch at president@horror.org and he’ll direct the mail to WiHM Blog Editor, Emma Audsley.
What to Submit
DEADLINE: January 28
A blog post. Blog posts should be at least 500 words on the subject of Women in Horror. If you’re female you may include an excerpt of your work (excerpts should range between 500 and no more than 1000 words). Blog entries might investigate the great female horror writers and their work; address how to get more horror writing by females published; compare the works of a number of female writers; address the needs of female horror readers; and so on
Please note: Your submission must include a blog post for Women in Horror Month and may include an excerpt of your work if you’re female. However, the post itself cannot be expressly and crassly promotional – we don’t want and won’t publish your blurbs, reviews and so on, only your opinions and excerpts of your work.
Your bio and links. Please include a one-paragraph bio with links to where readers can find your website and/or blog or buy your work online (Amazon, your publisher, etc.). You are also strongly encouraged to include a photo and/or book cover jpeg (see image specs below).
Previews of forthcoming fiction and/or non-fiction by HWA members. If you’re female consider submitting a preview of your recent or forthcoming publication in your blog post. Works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or any other form of horror writing published or scheduled for publication in 2014 can be included. Preview material should include a cover shot (see image specs below); a sample chapter, section, or poems; and a link (or links) to where readers can find your work (i.e. Amazon.com or your publisher’s website).
Book giveaways. We are nor running giveaways as part of this promotion. However, should you wish to offer something and manage the entries yourself please feel free to include information as to the giveaway/prize and how readers may enter the draw. All costs relating to giveaways/prizes are to your account; HWA is not involved in any way in the giveaway/prize or the costs of fulfilling such commitments.
