This month is an excellent time to check to see if the guidelines for the 2017 Amtrak Writers Residency are up. Based on the previous year, the time frame was between November 16-January 11th.
The residency is open to legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia, who are at least 18+ years of age as of the date of submission of the application. Applications will NOT be accepted from persons who are legal residents of Alaska or Hawaii.
The previous year's questions were: (a) Why do you want an #AmtrakResidency? and (b) How would this residency benefit your writing? Each answer should be no more than 1,000 characters in length. So that's something to bear in mind.
There are some additional guidelines to be aware of. But for the right writer, it's a great opportunity.
