Khalil Gibran is perhaps best known for his book
The Prophet, but I found his collection
The Madman much more enjoyable and impactful on my own understanding of my journey as a writer and what words and language could do.
In particular, the depth I find in his short story, "The Two Cages" as it meditates on the many layers of what it means to be a prisoner in this universe is astonishing in its efficiency.
