[MN] Vigil for Toua Xiong

The Southeast Asian community will hold a candlelight vigil for Toua Xiong, the murdered Pizza Hut delivery man, on Friday, August 11th starting at 8:30pm. The vigil will begin at the Pizza Hut on the corner of West Broadway and Girard Ave N. in Minneapolis.

Toua was a 20 year old Hmong resident. He was saving money to go to college and buy a car, so he was using his sister's car to deliver the pizza. He was thinking about going to St. Thomas or Concordia and wanted to be in finance-management.

From the Kare 11 website.

Friends and community members describe him as a good, caring person who was fun to be with. He loved to work for community and help the community. He was a polite and supportive young man who loved his mom and dad. He had 6 sisters, 6 brothers and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been set up to help the family pay for funeral expenses.

I knew Toua in High School. He was one of the nicest, caring, optimistic, always laughing and smiling person who appreciated all of his blessings. RIP in peace and soar high for we have gained another angel who guards hard working, positive, self oriented souls. XXX
