Cuban Dancer Viengsay Valdes to Perform in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia

From Presna Latina, August 13th, 2016:

Prima ballerina Viengsay Valdes will represent the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) in several performances scheduled from August 16th to 30th in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, she said today here.

Along with talented dancer Patricio Reve, she will perform fragments of classic international repertoire as the pas de deux from Don Quixote, The Dying Swan, Les Sylphides and a more contemporary piece called Dan-Son, she told the Prensa Latina news agency.

The theaters Cong Nhan (Vietnam), National Culture (Laos) and Chaktomuk Conference Hall (Cambodia) will host the performances of Cubans, which will take place along with performances by Asian artists.

Valdes has very strong ties with Laos because her parents were the first Cuban ambassadors in that country, she was even named after a Laotian word that means "Victoria".

BNC performances in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos take place as part of the activities carried out by Cuban embassies in these three countries on occasion of the 90th birthday of historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.
