Center for Lao Studies SAIL Program Applications available

The Center for Lao Studies (CLS) has released the application and other materials for its growing 2014 Summer Study Abroad in Laos (SAIL) program. SAIL students will "participate in a Lao Language program tailored specifically to the group's needs and includes activities such as: Lao Language and Culture classes at the Lao-American College; interaction with local residents and organizations; and excursions across the beautiful Lao landscape."

The program dates are June 27th to July 31st and offers students who have successfully completed their Lao language, history and culture courses opportunities to earn up to 10 academic credits through Northern Illinois University (NIU). Participants must apply through NIU to obtain 10 semester hours of undergraduate credit in the following NIU courses: Language Course (5 semester hours) based on the language placement test, SAIL students are enrolled in either INTL 101 -Beginning; INTL 201 - Intermediate; or INTL 301 - Advanced/Heritage and IDSP 301 - Study Abroad Programs (5 semester hours.)
