Among the guests this year is writer and director Stuart Gordon, known for his memorable adaptations of Lovecraft's work RE-ANIMATOR and FROM BEYOND. Gordon’s 2001 movie DAGON will play at the festival, joined by the film’s producer Brian Yuzna and concept artist D.H. Covey. The festival will also play John Carpenter's IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS, with Q&A from producer Sandy King. A 25th anniversary screening of the Lovecraft adaptation of THE UNNAMABLE with lead actor Mark Kinsey Stephenson rounds out the feature programming.
Other guests include NY Times bestselling author Nancy Holder, writers Leslie Klinger, Gary Myers, Cody Goodfellow, Ross E. Lockhart, Denise Dumars,and artists Jason Thompson and Mike Dubisch. Over a dozen vendors will sell at the Mall of Cthulhu. The festival will also feature over three hours of local and international independent short subjects themed around the “weird tale” that Lovecraft popularized, including many premieres.
There will be a collection of disturbing Lovecraftian music videos and live performances including musician-singer Eben Brooks, a fan favorite for his song “Hey There Cthulhu” Macabre Fantasy Radio Theater returns to the Warner Grand stage for another thrilling live audio drama, and magician Zack Dubnoff will entertain with a Lovecraft-themed séance.
Plus, a physical gallery of monstrous art will open for the festival at the Crafted Marketplace and display thru October.
Sunday brings back the “Brunch n’ Fun” with games, a scavenger hunt, and a satirical Cthulhu Prayer Breakfast.
